Meet Jeremy

Jeremy Lott founded Foundation Accounting & Consulting after experiencing firsthand how overwhelming financial management can become for growing businesses.

Before entering accounting full-time, Jeremy spent more than 15 years owning and operating a residential landscape design and project management company. During that time, he saw how many contractors struggled with cash flow, job costing, payroll, taxes, and financial visibility — even when their businesses were generating revenue.

Determined to better understand the financial side of business, Jeremy immersed himself in accounting and bookkeeping education, became a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor, earned a Master’s degree in preparation for CPA exams, and spent several years working in public accounting.
That combination of entrepreneurial experience and professional accounting training gave him a unique perspective:
Today, Jeremy specializes in helping contractors and nonprofit organizations build stronger financial foundations through practical bookkeeping systems, coaching, consulting, and QuickBooks support.

What Makes Foundation Different

Our Founder

Jeremy’s background in landscape design and project management gives him firsthand insight into the construction industry. We understand the realities of job costing, project timelines, subcontractors, payroll management, equipment expenses, and seasonal cash flow.

We help contractors:

30 Years Of Coaching

At the heart of Foundation Accounting & Consulting is coaching.
Jeremy has spent over 20 years coaching athletes, teams, and individuals. That same passion for development shapes how we work with clients today.
We don’t believe in simply “doing the books” behind the scenes.
We believe in helping clients understand their finances, improve their systems, and develop the confidence to make informed decisions.
Our approach is collaborative, educational, and relationship-focused.

Resourcefulness

We find the solution, no excuses! We rely on our deep understanding of accounting and QuickBooks to find an answer that will never compromise the integrity of the numbers, the business, or the people of the business. We are not afraid to take on new challenges. We are the people that others come to with their most difficult problems because they know we can fix them. Everyone in the company has the permission and resources to find a solution and implement that solution. Before asking others for help, it is expected that each of us, individually, will research the problem and come up with three solutions at minimum, with their recommendation on which solution they think is best. When a difficult problem is solved, it is expected that you will share what you have done with others so we can all improve.

Understanding

Business ownership is difficult. Jeremy owned a landscape construction company for about 15 years, and so he gets what it is like to own a business and deal with the pressures and struggles that go along with running a business and failing at business. Anytime a client is frustrated or concerned about something, we make sure they can speak with the right person at Foundation so that they can feel understood, and have someone empathize that has been there before.

Educated

We expect learning and growth from everyone on the Foundation team. To solve the most difficult problems for our clients, we must be constantly learning and adapting. Reading and certifications are encouraged to help stay on the forefront. We pay everyone in the business to spend one hour every day learning. This includes reading and education, studying new technology, and working on new certifications.

We are an investment for our clients

We hate being only a cost center. With every client, as we work with them, we are always on the lookout for improvements and growth opportunities. The goal is to make the client more money or improve cash flow beyond what we charge them. Creativity and innovation are expected for this. The focus is always on abundance first, meaning improvements to increase revenue or cash coming in before focusing on cutting costs and expenses. We make the pizza larger so everyone gets more!

Frequent communication

We do not call our communication “good” because that is a judgment we leave to our clients. We focus on frequent communication. We use Teams to post our progress, questions, and needs. The client is given access to their Teams channel so they can follow the progress and respond to questions and needs there. If there is no response, we escalate by emailing, then texting, then calling to follow up. Speed is important and we do not want our clients questions or accounting left hanging. Also, we frequently communicate our findings and suggestions to the client as we go, and as often as possible, so they understand the health of their business and how to grow.
